COMMUNITY-BASED OPPORTUNITIES & TAILORED DAY SERVICES
Your community. Your schedule. Your life. Your terms.
Not every adult with IDD thrives in a traditional day program setting and they shouldn't have to. Community-Based Opportunities and Tailored Day Services (CBO/TDS) are designed for individuals who are ready to engage with their communities in more independent, flexible, and self-directed ways. Through this program, participants build real-world skills, vocational skills, develop genuine community connections, and experience the kind of meaningful engagement that comes from being an active, valued member of the world around them, instead of just a visitor to it.
What Are Community-Based Opportunities?
Community-Based Opportunities (CBO) move programming out of the center and into the community. Participants engage in activities, volunteer work, recreational experiences, and community access that align with their personal interests and goals. This might look like:
-
Volunteering with local organizations or causes the individual cares about
-
Accessing community recreation, cultural events, and public spaces
-
Developing social networks and natural supports outside of the service system
-
Building practical skills through real-world community engagement
-
Exploring interests and discovering new ones

What Are Tailored Day Services?
Tailored Day Services (TDS) are highly individualized supports designed around each person's unique goals, preferences, and pace. Rather than following a fixed group schedule, TDS participants work with their support team to shape a day that reflects what they want to learn, where they want to go, and who they want to become.TDS is ideal for individuals who:
-
Are working toward greater independence in daily life
-
Have specific personal, vocational, or community goals they are actively pursuing
-
Benefit from a more flexible, self-directed model of support
-
Are transitioning between programs or preparing for supported employment
How It Works
Participants in CBO/TDS are supported by trained staff who accompany them in the community, help facilitate new experiences, and provide the right level of support, with a focus on stepping back as confidence grows. All services are grounded in each individual's Person-Centered Plan and coordinated with their Regional Center service coordinator.
We take seriously the belief that inclusion is not a destination but a practice. Every outing, every interaction, and every new experience is an opportunity for growth, connection, and belonging.
Who Is a Good Fit?
CBO and Tailored Day Services are well-suited for adults with IDD who are looking for more flexibility and community integration in their daily programming. We work with individuals across a range of ability levels and tailor support intensity to match each person's needs.
